Meso-Zeaxanthin Aids Eyes (2007)
This study suggested that meso-zeaxanthin supplementation supports the density of pigments in the macula -- pigments which protect the eye from the damaging UV and blue light from the sun. (Nutr Metab. 2007;4:12) (DOI:10.1186/1743-7075-4-12). Lutein and zeaxanthin have both been examined in a number of trials that are looking into the mechanics of how these carotenoids can support pigment in the macula and thus perhaps protect against macular deterioration. Meso-zeaxanthin is the third major carotenoid found in macular pigment.
Zeaxanthin Can Reduce Chances of AMD 79% (2006)
